Approval of R.A. minutes for April 11, 2013 mtg.

Report on the TNG/CWA Sector Conference and Convention held last month in Pittsburgh. The Detroit Guild received a plaque and honors for our successful organizing drive for the janitors at ABM. Detroit and Kingston, N.Y. delegates challenge recent bargaining agreements made by the Administrative Officer of the Philadelphia Newspaper Guild and resultant impact on our Independent Unit contract

Donation of $100.00 to striking Guild members of the Canadian Media Guild in St. John, New Brunswick

Update on finding a successor to replace Lou Mleczko as Administrative Officer/President of the Detroit Guild, Local 34022. Report on two candidates, who have expressed interest in the position.

Treasurer’s Report

Update on local’s status of checking/savings accounts
Request to TNG/CWA for reimbursement of legal costs for Maintenance and Independent Units bargaining during February & March 2013. CWA has reimbursed Detroit $2,340.00 for legal costs in December & January, 2012-13.

Unit Business

News Unit-Charlie Ramirez arbitration set for June 25th before Arbitrator John Lyons

Maintenance Unit-Three-year contract signed; $200.00 signing bonus set for May 10th distribution Derrick Bell replaces Tom Conrad as Unit Chairperson following Conrad’s layoff Independent Unit-Four new Guild members transferred from the Detroit Typographical Union jurisdiction; Severance payment made to laid off Guild members; New headquarters in Clinton Twp.
